This is a little different from most posts I see here, but I'm hoping someone can give me some advice from the employer side of things. I run a small construction company out of Highland, just me and four other guys, mostly doing residential work like decks, additions, and kitchen remodels. About four months ago one of my crew was helping me set some roof trusses when he lost his footing and fell off the scaffolding—broke his leg pretty bad and needed surgery to put a rod in. I've always tried to take care of my guys and I filed the workers comp claim right away because that's just the right thing to do. But now the insurance company is dragging their feet on approving his physical therapy and they keep sending him to doctors who act like he's ready to come back when he's clearly not. I feel awful because he's a good worker and a good guy and I can see him getting more and more stressed out about the whole situation. I've been calling the insurance adjuster every week trying to get things moving but I feel like I'm just getting the runaround too. I'm starting to think that maybe I need to find someone who can help me navigate this on the employer side to make sure my guy actually gets the care he needs. I've been looking for a workers compensation attorney serving Highland who might be able to help us both figure out why the insurance company is being so difficult about approving basic stuff like PT. Has anyone here ever dealt with this from the employer perspective? I just want my guy to heal up and get back to work without having to fight for every single appointment. It's making me rethink whether I want to keep using this insurance company when it's time to renew.
