About the event
William Kamkwamba is a 13-year-old boy who lives in the village of Wimbe in the Republic of Malawi in eastern Africa. William has always shown an aptitude for salvaging and repairing electronic devices. When a drought devastates the food supply in his village, William has a plan to build a windmill to power a water pump that could make water available for growing food. His biggest challenge, however, is convincing his father and others that his plan can be successful. Can he prove to the people of his village that his idea could save them all? An inspiring and poignant tale of courage and determination!
